30-SECOND DAILY CALL TO PRAYER FROM BILL & IVY BRAY...
MORNING STAR we praise you for the wonderful survey and delivery team you have raised up here in the Philippines, especially national coordinator Juanito Sanchez and his staff of volunteers and pastors in Manila and Bicol as well as our strong young men, photojournalist Jon Bray and logistics coordinator Lowan Millamina. Hallelujah, AMEN!
RIVERS OF WATER we ask your blessings and protection and wisdom on Jon Bray today as he buys the supplies and flies to Bicol early tomorrow morning to begin his 20 days of field work on the Philippine Mercy Mission 2007. May he get the reportage needed and have skill in writing and preparing it for worldside use. We also pray for Brother Lowan as he arranges car rentals, transportation services and itinerary to the disaster areas. We pray for Brother Juanito and his team of 60 missionary pastors and apostolic leaders who are coordinating the actual delivery of reconstruction aid and for more funds to arrive without delay. AMEN.
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: "Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!" (Amos 5:24).

30-SECOND DAILY CALL TO PRAYER FROM BILL & IVY BRAY...
LORD YOU ARE LOVE and so we praise and thank you for people of love like Laura Parker in Chicago and Dr. Pasquel at the 700 Club here in Manila and the Sanchez family who are doing so much to help us carry on our mission here in the Philippines and in Chicago next week. HALLELUJAH, AMEN
LORD, we ask that you will help us miraculously find a way to cash a $5,000 check quickly this week so that Jon Bray and Juanito Sanchez can deliver more reconstruction aid to the village missionaries in Bicol next week while we are in Chicago working to raise more mercy funds. AMEN
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY: "God is love"
BILL'S BLOG FROM MANILA, Tuesday, January 30:
NOT YOUR SAME OLD PHILIPPINES--SAME OLD ASIA
FOR Ivy especially, and for me as well, returning to Manila after several years away has been a shocker. It is a turning point in our lives as well as our ministries. We've only been here two days but it seems like we've landed on a different planet.
While Asia is always changing, it has never changed faster than this. Not only is the new high-rise skyline, expressways, and public transportation systems jarring but telecommunications, media and the computer is creating new worlds of opportunity and challenges to missions and the church.
The same old war against the world, the flesh and the devil is unchanged, but the terrain of the battlefield is suddenly new. We have to move the churches mission into the mega-malls of Manila, onto the internet and into the media. We have to find and form new allies not only in the churches but among a new generation of young, indigenous leaders. I have a strong sense that missions here need a revival, as we do in the States as well.
To reach this rapidly changing and re-paganized, materialistic generation of urban Asians, we need to rediscover and redefine the gifts of prophecy, apostleship, pastor/teacher and evangelist. It's a new world (again!) and we have to put our armor on again and get back into the fight.
January 29, 2007 - Day of witness in Cavite, Philippines
"Prayer Priority" Request for Monday, January 29, 2007
30-SECOND DAILY CALL TO PRAYER FROM BILL & IVY BRAY...
FRIEND OF SINNERS, we praise you for an awesome day of testimony and witness on Sunday as Jon Bray joined us from Virginia along with missionaries Lourdes and George Punosis from Greece to exhort and testify to over 55 of Ivy's relatives that welcomed the Brays to Cavite. Thank you for anointing the powerful preaching of Evangelist Juanito Sanchez and the dozen souls that came to the altar to make decisions for Christ. We also thank you for the $17,800 that has already come in through CIS, Inc in Charlottesville for the 2007 Mercy Mission as well as the other gifts that have more than matched it from Christian donors in the Philippines. AMEN, HALLELUJAH!
STRENGTH OF THE POOR, we ask you to use Dr. Bill and Ivy as they meet with indigenous leaders in the capital of Manila this week such as the director of 700 Club Operation Blessing Philippines and Jon Bray as he meets with the Sisters of the Poor in Naga City and for all other groups and individuals that are considering sending more funds including the St. Francis Fund in Columbus, Georgia. May the Bray's February Call to Prayer and other communications efforts be used by your Holy Spirit to raise the $17,200 still needed to start the first round of emergency rebuilding in Bicol. AMEN and AMEN
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: "Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!" (Amos 5:24).
January 27, 2007 - WHY HAS GOD LED US TO THE POOREST OF THE POOR?
"Prayer Priority" Request for Saturday, January 27, 2007
30-SECOND DAILY CALL TO PRAYER FROM BILL & IVY BRAY...
God answers the prayers of the poor. If I ever doubted this fact, it has been proven to me this week here in Bicol. I'm writing this from Naga City, a rather glamorous growth center with malls and everything. It still has email working even though the city has suffered damage to infrastructure valued at over one billion pesos.
While I met with one of the Bishops here yesterday, I am not here for the Bishops. They seem to have channels for money. No, God has sent us to the poorest Christians in the villages, the pastors who have nothing and no one to help them. Why? It is a miracle. Only God knows why I am networked to the poor village pastors in this trip. These are not the people I would go to on my own OR even the people I would be able to find on my own. Thank God for evangelist Juanito Sanchez who has worked among them for 30 years and knows the cow-paths that lead to their churches.
These Filipions are first generation converts from Christo-paganism, idolatry, and demon worship of the worst sorts. They are the mostly the desperate, uneducated poor folks who live off the land. They work with their hands and rarely if ever see a doctor or trained mid-wife, even to have their babies. They build their "lean-to" churches out of coca-timber, thatch and nipa leaf. They don't have electricity, phones, credit cards or bank accounts (which are common in the middle-class segments of this society). In fact, if they have a phone at all, it is a cell phone shared by the pastor and the whole church! Talk about communications problems with the outside world.
Yet these are the people who most desperately want education, want to learn to read the Bible and are calling upon God for salvation and help in this the worst hurricane they have ever experienced. They want salvation from sin and victory from oppresive forces both spiritual and man-made. These people have almost nothing, and they have lost even the little they have.
But, praise the Lord, God is hearing their cries. God has connected us to them. I feel that we are not only going to help them in this crisis but that God is connecting us for a longer-term committment. GOD IS ANSWERING THEIR PRAYERS, NOT OURS. That is the reason we are here. If Jesus was walking in the Philippines today, I know that he would be walking among these people. Since He is at the right hand of the Father, He has sent us here instead.

30-SECOND DAILY CALL TO PRAYER FROM BILL & IVY BRAY...
JEHOVAH JIREH, thank you for hearing the desperate cries of the poorest of the poor victims of the hurricane here by sending us to help provide a total of 67 pastors with emergency food aid and 13 construction grants so far on this 2007 Mercy Mission. Thank you Lord, for the wonderful native pastors and missions leadership that have speeded us on our mission and for opening more doors here daily. HALLELUJAH, AMEN!
LIVING WORD, use us as we fly to Manila today to welcome son Jon from the United States and brief him on his survey trips back into the hardest to reach areas, to meet with national para-church leaders such as Operation Blessing Philippines, and to have a successful reunion with Ivy's family tomorrow. Use us to witness to unsaved and backslidden relatives as we speak and share our testimony on Sunday. AMEN AND AMEN.
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: "Is this not the fast which I chose...is it not to divide your bread with the hungry" (Isaiah 58:6-7).

30-SECOND DAILY CALL TO PRAYER FROM BILL & IVY BRAY...
PRAISE YOU RESTORER OF STREETS WITH DWELLINGS, we thank for delivering us safely to the Hurricane Durian catastrophe epicenter and for the wonderful sacrifices for Christ made by our indigenous missionary hosts. We praise you for enabling us to give aid to 50 missionary pastors. Hallelujah! Amen!
REPAIRER OF THE BROKEN WALLS, use our field survey team as we visit village churches which local leaders feel are most in need of rebuilding and as we continue to distribute emergency groceries to suffering survivors. Give us wisdom in our negotiations with local bishops, presbyters and district superintendents that we might always be used to bring harmony and union because you said the world will believe as they see our unity and love. AMEN and AMEN!
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter--when you see the naked, to chothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of the Streets with Dwellings" (Isaiah 58: 6-7, 11-12).
BILL'S BLOG FROM LAGASPI CITY AND ENVIRONS: SITUATION IS WORSE THAN WE IMAGINED
Landing in the epicenter of this super-typhoon is giving me a new appreciation for the awesome power of God's creation force and what can happen when the breath of God sweeps over a land in judgement. Communications out of here are almost impossible. The internet as well as electrical power is gone almost completely. When you land here, you enter into a black hole from which it is almost impossible to communicate to the outside world.
This is the first time I have found an internet cafe that is working since we landed here, and as you might guess, it is in a modern mall. I am surrounded by happy teens chattering away with their peers on the web, many of them talking to friends abroad, about the same things I guess our teens talk about--sex, the opposite gender and music as well as some pretty serious stuff about the human condition.
During the day, we go from one ruined church to another, passing devastated streets and abandoned villages which now look like paved-over parking lots, left flat as pancakes by the "lahar" volcanic mud flows. Things are a bit deceptive in the daylight hours since the floodwaters have totally receded and these wonderful, energetic and hard-working people have done so much to clean up the mess.
Life has not returned to normal, but it has returned to something like it was in the 1950's, back to a cash-only pay as you go economy that has strained our budget and the distribution of funds since I was counting on banks working again and they don't. It takes six weeks to cash a check here.
With power and phone lines still down even after two months, it is msot inconvenient not to be able to use credit cards and have to operate on emergency generators for the essentials. At night, the whole world reverts back to the stone age, and one realizes how much we we have come to depend on electricity.
However, these are such beautiful and wonderful people. No wonder the Philippines is producing some of the most dedicated and powerful servants of God for this generation. Without them, there would be almost no witness for Christ in the Muslim world. There is an optimism and faith here, even in this tragedy, which is such a blessing to us.
So far we have distributed small cash grants for groceries to 50 missionary pastors and we are determining now which churches should be give reconstruction grants now and in the next 2-3 years. Ivy and I believe that he has arranged events in our own life so that we can answer the prayers of these people for the help they need.
There is a great sense of the need for love, harmony and unity here...and a powerful awareness of inequity and injustice--much greater than in the United States. Filipinos are taking Christ into the marketplace and witnessing boldly for him in their schools, shops and factories. No wonder Al Quida has targeted the Philippines and Indonesia for their campaign of hate, terror and violence. The Malay people are much loved of God and love Him back in ways that can teach us many lessons.
The Mercy Mission Team, led by evangelist Juanito Sanchez will be coming back for me soon. They are discussing with local church leaders how to determine who will get the first aid we are able to deliver for the church reconstruction projects. I am so glad that I can entrust this to godly, indigenous leaders. OK, they are here for me know. I must sign off.

We pray for each one supporting the Brays with prayer and finances, and in other ways including bank tellers, pilots, Fedex delivery people, the post office and a host of other people who are supporting this mission. AMEN and AMEN and AMEN

30-SECOND DAILY CALL TO PRAYER FROM BILL & IVY BRAY...
PRAISE: LION OF JUDAH we thank you for over $12,000 already pledged or received toward our goal of $30,000 for the first stage of our Mercy Mission to the Philippines starting on Monday. Thank you Lord for this money and the funds to more than match it. Hallelujah, AMEN.
PRAY: SON OF MAN in 2007 and the years to come, teach us how to better use the World Wide Web to reach the world and accomplish your purposes. May we never use it to promote ourselves or rob you of your glory but may we use it always to better communicate to others. May we effectively use the Web Ministry to send out Praise and Prayer while on the Philippine Mercy Mission and bless us this weekend with all our preparations. AMEN and AMEN
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY: "You give attention to your servant's prayer and his plea for mercy, O Lord my God. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence this day" (I Kings 8:28).

30-SECOND DAILY CALL TO PRAYER FROM BILL & IVY BRAY...
PRAISE: HE THAT FILLETH ALL IN ALL, we thank you that in times like today, when our self-set deadlines seem to press and crush, we can trust you to provide every need just in time. You LORD, are greater and outside time and are always there exactly when we need you. Hallelujah, Amen.
PRAYER: AUTHOR OF OUR FAITH, guide our leadership and give them mutual understanding, common trust and consensus when they meet -- not only the leaders of the missions we serve, but indigenous leaders in the field and our own supervisors and directors. Help those who are making decisions about where the Brays will serve to be sensitive to your leadership. Cause those who are making decisions about funding the Philippine Mercy Mission to give the right amounts needed at the right time. AMEN and AMEN!
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK:"He will judge the world in righteousness; he will govern the peoples with justice. The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble" (Psalm 9:8-9).
NEVER FORCE THINGS!
Learning to wait upon the Lord has been a life-time challenge to me...and it remains so still. I remember, even as a boy, my father saying to me when I came to him in teams with a broken toy, "Now Billy, never force things." It was his best advice then and still is today.
Ivy and I are so glad that in a series of critically important meetings in Virginia and Georgia this week the Lord blessed us with that peace that comes as a gift from Him. It has been exciting seeing powerful businessmen, consultants, leaders and statesmen learning to wait upon God together.
How perfect and wonderful is the Lord's peace. His timing is always perfect. We must never never go forward in decision-making without it and those who do are asking for failure, pain and sorrow. My peace I leave with you, promised Jesus. Let's take care that we don't misplace it along the way on life's journey!

BILL'S BLOG FROM GREENVILLE, SC . . .
We arrived here tonight after driving 500 miles from our latest round of meetings with the team in Washington, DC. The last 2-1/2 days of meeting with leaders from all walks of life and service have been most exciting. These are among God's choice Kingdom people -- called from all kinds of churches and groups -- who are seeking to disciple nations and reorder cultures, relationships and societies in God's way rather than their own. This process involves deliberately working on mutually understanding each other and seeking to heal the whole rather than the parts--just the very opposite of the way most of us run our businesses, churches, governments and in fact, the reverse of the way the world works! The way of the world is based on self-interest, chain of command, cause and effect. But Jesus said it won't be this way among you.

30-SECOND DAILY CALL TO PRAYER FROM BILL & IVY BRAY...
LORD JESUS, HEAD OF EVERY MAN, we thank you for the union you have given Bill and Ivy in their marriage and for the one-ness you are adding to their lives and ministries through a growing network of family and leadership friends in Washington, DC and around the world. AMEN!
ROSE OF SHARON, prepare Dr. Bill and Ivy and friends across the USA as they make plans to celebrate the Bray's 25th Wedding Anniversary this August in Williamsburg, Virginia. Continue to touch supporters to send extra support to help supply the Mercy Mission to the Philippines and provide at least $30,000 to get the rebuilding efforts going. We ask this for your glory and as a fuller manifestation of your love for the sufferings saints in Luzon. AMEN AND AMEN
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: "I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with JOY because of your partnership in the Gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to the completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Philippians 1:3-6).
BLOG UPDATE: A long, long day here in Washington on Tuesday as we met with influential leaders to discuss ways Christ taught us to help cure the causes of poverty and injustice in this world, not just treat the symptoms. I have never experienced more hope than today...and I know that Christ is still waiting to perform greater miracles through us than he did during his early ministry. This was the promise he gave and which he longs to fulfill through us in a world divided by sin and rebellion against God.

30-SECOND DAILY CALL TO PRAYER FROM BILL & IVY BRAY...
LIGHT OF THE WORLD, thank you for the Kingdom miracles you are doing daily in human hearts that help us to understand and mutually trust one another so that your will can be done and your Kingdom comes in this sin sick world. Hallelujah, Amen!
CARPENTER, use Dr. Bill and Ivy today in Washington to be servants to leaders and develop relationships of mutual trust and understanding that will heal many hurts and meet many different kinds of needs here in the USA and around the world...and as they go, touch many hearts to give thousands of dollars this week for the hurricane victims in the Philippines, and help the Brays to meet the challenges and needs of daughter Becki in California, Sister Lourdes in Greece, and others around the world. AMEN and AMEN!
VERSE OF THE WEEK: "I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with JOY because of your partnership in the Gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Philippians 1:3-6).
INSPIRATION FROM DR. BILL'S BLOG: I've got to get excited or die. I've got to praise the Lord or die. I've got to laugh or I will die. The Joy of the Lord is our strength. It heals us. It will motivate us if we will use it. There is no excuse for allowing ourselves to go around with drawn, pained faces. We must say no discouragement. Joy must set our feet to dancing. "Inaction breeds doubt and fear," wrote the late Dale Carnegie. "Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy."

BLESSED HOPE, we praise you for meeting all the needs of the poor who call upon you and freeing us and them from every anxiety and fear over money. Thank you for calling us into this ministry of helps, to raise funds and disburse them for your glory. We praise you for the growing fruit in lands so long in darkness and rebellion against you. Hallelujah, AMEN.
STRENGTH OF THE POOR, please confirm our Philippine Mercy Mission today by miraculously touching friends to release the funds needed to send us on this mission next Monday and provide additional funds to add Jon Bray to the team as photographer. Lord have mercy and supply an extra $3000 so that he can stay on for several extra weeks in order to gather more information, photos and stories. Lord, look on the growing line of needy indigenous missionaries standing at the door. Give us wisdom to disburse funds wisely and multiply our charity to them as you did the disciples who distributed the loaves and fishes. Help us to marshal a new army of Christian donors in the USA who will open their hearts with your love and meet this need. We give you all the glory! AMEN and AMEN

Enable us all to develop our relationships based on shared and common trust in 2007, and use the Brays to see your Kingdom come and will be done through their servant ministry to leaders. AMEN AND AMEN.
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18).
TODAY'S BLOG COMMENT...As we rose before dawn today to pack and begin seven days of travel, Ivy turned to me and said several profound and revealing things about finding our next place of service--each of which I will have to think about during many more hours of prayer and fasting.
One remark however, I instantly realized as true.
"Honey," she said, "you can't go to work any place where the leader doesn't believe in you. For you to be creative and productive you have to be affirmed. That is your emotional love language and if you don't get it--then you won't succeed in developing the vision--you just can't succeed without a cheer leader boss who backs you up.
"So let's not go anywhere, no matter how much they promise to pay us, if we don't have the unqualified confidence of the leadership."
Over the next few days, we will be interviewing with several potential leaders and leadership teams, and I'll be using her words as one of my cornerstone guides to decision-making. In fact, I hope this will be one of the foundational principles of everything I undertake in the rest of my life.

KING OVER ALL THE EARTH, we praise you that even in tragedy you show your mercy to the saints such as the 500,000 people made homeless by Hurricane Durian in the Philippines. We thank you that you have created a window in the calendar of Dr. Bill and Ivy Bray this month so that they can go and deliver love from American Christians to the missionary pastors there. HALLELUJAH, AMEN!

30-SECOND DAILY CALL TO PRAYER FROM BILL & IVY BRAY...
PRAISE YOU LIGHT OF THE GENTILES for the way that you overcame the darkness that sought to overwhelm us in 2006 and for prompting many friends old and new to join our fellowship and support team in the USA.
LIGHT OF THE WORLD, help us to become better Light bearers in 2007, especially to the Muslims you bring across our paths and to non-believers. Help us to minister to the whole person in loving deeds and words. Make us willing and obedient to go where you send us and respond with valor to your commands. AMEN
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: "Shout for joy, O heaven; rejoice, O earth; burst into song, O mountains! For the LORD comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones" (Isaiah 49:13).
NEW DAILY PRAYER FORMAT COMING: If you want to continue as part of this prayer fellowship in the New Year, receiving our daily 30 Second Pause for Prayer after January 15, please go and register at our personal Bray Family missionary website, www.bray-missionaries.org.
