November 30, 2008 - Lonely Students at Christmas

"Prayer Priority" Request for Sunday, November 30, 2008
30 Second Pause for Prayer from Bill and Ivy Bray...

WISDOM OF GOD, thank You for the Prayer Partners and Support Team members who have helped us revive OSM and other missions this year, and who are making our Christmas outreaches to international students possible this month. AMEN

ALPHA AND OMEGA, give Bill Bray grace as he re-approaches pastors, leaders and Christian volunteers or supporters this month. Help the campus missionary staff and volunteers to locate Friendship Partner host families for Christmas outreaches to international students. Use us all Lord, to bring together the "haves" and the "have not's" during this holiday season. Provide the funding needed to help those in need during this season, and especially anoint and use the December newsletters that are going out this week. In all we do, help us to find "chosen vessel" indigenous missionaries that God wants to send back to their own nations with the Gospel. AMEN

VERSE OF THE WEEK: "Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits--who forgives you all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion" (Psalm 103: 2-4).

BACKGROUND ON TODAY'S FOCUS: During the Christmas holidays, OSM conducts a national search to find new Christian families and individuals who will help volunteer to host international students for a meal or a whole weekend. Our goal is to eventually have enough Friendship Families or partners to host all the 624,000 international students now in the United States.

It takes the whole community around a university or training base to make this happen, and that includes the pastors and clergy of local churches as well as the campus missionary.

Screening host families carefully means good working relationships with local spiritual leaders and national organizations such as ISI, IVCF and Bridges International. They have the responsibility of finding students and matching them up with the right Friendship Family Partners or Friendship Partners. PLEASE, PRAY FOR THIS ENTIRE PROCESS BETWEEN NOW AND DECEMBER 25.

November 29, 2008 - Book Table Ministry Today

"Prayer Priority" Request for Saturday, November 29, 2008
30 Second Pause for Prayer from Bill and Ivy Bray...

Dear Prayer Partner,
Today we will be starting our Advent Ministry by setting up the missionary book table in two local church services. This is a very important ministry for us, not selling books, but distributing the missionary and devotional challenge that underlies our whole enterprise. Literature is one of the best ways to minister our challenge.
Pray for us that many will take adopt the Prayer Planning Diary as their main devotional tool in 2009 and buy challenging mission books for their children and dear ones as Christmas gifts.
Bill Bray+

SON OF THE HIGHEST, we thank you for the favor you are giving us with local pastors and mission leaders in the Charlottesville area and we thank you that we are entering into the Advent season again, a time to review our lives, pray about our budgets, set faith goals and prepare to make vows for the New Year. AMEN

WISDOM OF GOD, may we end this year debt free, both in the work of the mission and in our personal lives. Give us favor as the Charlottesville team takes the missionary book table out to the churches today and also help Bill as we works on important editorial projects for the month of December with online prayer coordinator John Henry in Dallas. AMEN

VERSE OF THE WEEK, "Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits--who forgives all your sins and heals all your disease, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion" (Psalm 103:2-4).

November 28, 2008 - Vision Casting Prayer Saturday Morning

"Prayer Priority" Request for Friday, November 28, 2008
30 Second Pause for Prayer from Bill and Ivy Bray...

Dear Friends,
One of our newest ministry partners, Royal Priesthood Christian Cultural Center, is joining us Saturday morning for prayer. We will be walking the grounds of our campus in Charlottesville, opening ourselves to the Holy Spirit of God to receive a renewed vision and word from the Lord. As we pray in faith for the future and line up our thoughts with the mind of Christ, we expect to see mountains move. Over the years, I have been amazed to see how this kind of "prayer walking" changes situations. Join us to pray in the spirit if you cannot join us in person. Ask the Lord to reveal to you in your heart his plan for the OSM ministry across the USA, thanking him for the wonderful facilities we have received.
Your missionaries in Christ,
Bill and Ivy

EVERLASTING GOD, we thank you for men of God like Howie Campbell, Dr. Bob Finley and Bishop Timothy Williams who are standing with us in faith and putting that faith into action in word and deed. Thank you Lord for these heros of faith who are not discouraged by circumstances but hold fast to the vision you have given them. AMEN

EVERLASTING LIGHT, come down and meet with Bill Bray and the prayer team as they wait upon you tomorrow and renew their vision for reaching overseas students and using the property you have given us to your glory. AMEN

VERSE OF THE WEEK: "He is your praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes" (Deuteronomy 10:21).

November 25, 2008 - Heads up for Christmas

"Prayer Priority" Request for Tuesday, November 25, 2008
30 Second Pause for Prayer from Bill and Ivy Bray...

Dear Prayer Partners, Family and Friends,
Hard to believe that as we prepare for our international student guests this Thanksgiving, we also need to be getting ready to help these lonely visitors at Christmas! Pray for both these valuable holiday outreaches to foreign visitors. This kind of Friendship Evangelism is as much a ministry of hospitality and presence as it is the spoken word! Today's prayer request is all about getting ready for "company" as my mom used to call it!
Bill (and Ivy)

GOD'S ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, we thank you for submitting to the Father by being born as one of us. Thank you for coming to earth as a foreign visitor to bring us salvation. Thank you for your love to the aliens among us and your commands to be hospitable and kind to visitors and sojourners. AMEN

SON OF MAN, give Bill grace as he writes the Christmas newsletter today and as our volunteers as they gather to send out this and so many other holiday communications to Friendship Family host families and international students. Use us LORD, to bring together the "haves" and the "have-nots" during this holiday season. Provide the funding needed to help those in need during this season. AMEN

VERSE OF THE WEEK: "He is your praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes" (Deuteronomy 10:21).

November 24, 2008 - Thanksgiving Guest Match-ups

"Prayer Priority" Request for Monday, November 24, 2008
30 Second Pause for Prayer from Bill and Ivy Bray...

TRUE GOD, we thank you for our indigenous missionary partners in Africa who are faithfully reaching hundreds of tribal groups and ethnicities across such vast territories. We especially thank you for the Royal Priesthood ministry among African-Americans and their vision to reach the nations of Africa in Africa and in Europe as well as in the USA. AMEN

SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, bless the OSM national headquarters office this week as they work with International Students and other international student ministries on over 850 campuses. Guide everyone in making the right match-ups for maximum spiritual impact. May every lonely student who longs to learn about Thanksgiving find a Friendship Family to host him or her on this holiday weekend. AMEN

JEHOVAH-ROPHE, send your healing power over John and Elaine Henry, giving them power to serve you and especially grant John the wisdom and understanding to get the OSM internet prayer ministry functioning this week.

VERSE OF THE WEEK: "Live as free men...love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king" (I Peter 2:16-17)

November 22, 2008 - News media mini-explosion

Dear Praying Friend,
You are in our thoughts and prayers this morning.
As you can see from our "Weekend Pause for Prayer" below, the team has a busy weekend. The Campbells are singing at Northside Baptist Church, I am preaching at Royal Priesthood Sunday morning, and Lourdes Sanchez Ponousis is celebrating another anniversary of "Christ the Mighty God Church" in Athens, Greece. Saturday night, we have a Thanksgiving Dinner for international students from the University of Virginia.
It's a busy weekend reaching all nations, with a special focus on Afro-Americans and Filipinos.
Thanks to your support, Ivy and I are reaching out, worshipping, and resting in the Lord this weekend. It has been a very busy and stressful week at the National Office of OSM. We are storming the gates of hell and the enemies of God don't like it! THANKS FOR PRAYING! Persist.
Your missionary,
Bill Bray

SON OF GOD, we thank you for every pastor, volunteer and missionary who is working today to help us reach all nations and fulfill your mission assignment for this time of the gentiles. Thank you for the health, power and strength to do your will. We especially thank you for Howie and Debbie Campbell, Brother Williams, Sister Lourdes and everyone at Trinity Presbyterian and International Students who is seeking to reach out this weekend. AMEN

SON OF ABRAHAM, bless all our missionaries today around the world, empower them to resist pride and sin, to faithfully proclaim your written and spoken word. Meet their pressing and urgent financial needs. Give them victory and empower them in a way that gives you great glory this weekend. Give us all the grace to bring souls to your kingdom and cause many to make decisions for you. AMEN

VERSE OF THE WEEK: "And you are to love those who are aliens, for you yourselves were aliens in Egypt. Fear the LORD your God and serve him" (Deuteronomy 10:19-20a).

SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, we join our hearts to praise and thank You for the recent news stories that have appeared about the Friendship Family program. We thank you for articles in Assist News, CBN, local newspapers and radio KTIS in Minneapolis. We thank you for surprising us with this unexpected favor in the news media. AMEN

HOLY AND TRUE, we ask you to use the CBN Christian World News programs and website ministries in the next week to involve many more Christian families and volunteers in the Friendship Family Thanksgiving outreach. We pray that the news media will remain favorable and help us to better reach out to all 624,000 international students through holiday home hospitality. AMEN

VERSE OF THE WEEK: "And you are to love those who are aliens, for you yourselves were aliens in Egypt. Fear the LORD your God and serve him" (Deuteronomy 10:19-20a).

Dear Praying Partner,
It has been very exciting to meet Christians on the phone all this week, folks who want to open their homes to foreign visitors. We have also met a lot of fine campus missionaries from various international student ministries that are setting up the connections on the local level. Pray for them and for the OSM Thanksgiving and Christmas outreaches. Ask the Lord for much fruit.

In Christ our Lord,
Bill and Ivy

Thank you for the opportunity during this holiday season to have international visitors as guests in our homes and to share your love with them. AMEN

MESSIAH, we pray that people we encounter on your behalf, and especially those whom you have blessed financially, will fall in love with the ministry of Overseas Students Mission. May they be convicted and compelled to send large, end-of-year contributions to the missions and missionaries we serve. May there be a flood of donations this Thanksgiving, Christmas and at New Year. Help those are are living in sinful fear during this time of recession and strengthen their hearts with faith. Forgive us for our greed and selfishness. Lord, You know the needs of your servants, and so we look to your hand to fulfill them to your glory. AMEN

VERSE OF THE WEEK: "And you are to love those who are aliens, for you yourselves were aliens in Egypt. Fear the LORD your God and serve him" (Deuteronomy 10:19-20a).

"Prayer Priority" Request for Thursday, November 13, 2008
30 Second Pause for Prayer from Bill and Ivy Bray...

REDEEMER, we thank you for the Friendship Families who are willing to share their Thanksgiving holiday with international students. We praise you for affiliate international student ministries on over 850 campuses in the United States who are organizing this effort. AMEN

PRINCE OF PEACE, use OSM news releases and mailings to pastors and volunteers to uncover more Christian families who are willing to host international students from nearby universities, military bases and colleges for Thanksgiving. We pray that this OSM Friendship Family program will grow every year so that all 600,000 international students will have opportunities to share the holidays with Christian families. AMEN

VERSE OF THE WEEK: "He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing" (Deuteronomy 10:18).

November 12, 2008 - Join us today in praying for the nations

"Prayer Priority" Request for Wednesday, November 12, 2008
30 Second Pause for Prayer from Bill and Ivy Bray...

LIVING STONE, we thank You for the growing number of Prayer Partners who are joining with us to pray for the nations on Wednesday evening both in Charlottesville and joining us around the world in spirit. We thank You for the extraordinary efforts of John Henry to set up an Internet and World Wide Web prayer ministry through Constant Contact for OSM. AMEN

LORD OF PEACE, visit the Charlottesville Prayer Council tonight as Bill chairs a meeting to set up a prayer website for the Church in Charlottesville and other communications efforts. Lead the group in their prayers and discussions as they seek to make intercession a way of life locally and globally. Answer our prayers for indigenous missions to All Nations tonight and use us to send your Gospel to the world. Use John Henry to increase the number of Prayer Partners who are signed up for our daily and weekly Prayer Letters and cover his support needs for November and every month. Teach us how to pray in one accord with You and one another. AMEN

VERSE OF THE WEEK: "He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing" (Deuteronomy 10:18).

BACKGROUND ON TODAY'S PRAYER REQUESTS: Nothing in the history of Christian missions has ever occurred without the prayers and intercessions of God's people. Therefore, when Bill Bray accepted the call to come and serve as President of OSM, the first thing he did was to organize a prayer movement. All apostolic action must spring from our communion with Christ through prayer. It is the way that we discover his will and receive his provision. Therefore, OSM is making a strong effort to foster prayer before all else.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper" (Psalm 1: 1-3).
