For over 30 years Dr. Bray has used the YWAM Prayer and Planning Diary as a way to stay on track with his personal piety and as a prayer guide for the whole team. "Next to the Bible, this is the most life-changing devotional book I have ever used," says Dr. Bray. "It takes you right into the heart of Jesus for the lost world-it is like walking with God. Fox Faith hits home with Feature Films
By Dr. Bill Bray

November 1, 2006

How long has it been since you’ve seen applause break out in the middle of pictures or at the end of theater films? When was the last time you saw four of five clusters of teens sitting around in the theater after the credits talking, hugging and praying about what the movie they had just seen?

Well, I saw it twice in as many weeks after watching digital Christian films on 70-foot wide screens in my local 20-screen Carmike Cineplex in Columbus, Georgia. There is no doubt we are seeing a renaissance of the Christian films in secular theaters.

The two films I just saw were the independently-produced “Facing the Giants” and “One Night with the King” from Fox Faith Movies. They have both lasted 3-4 weeks now, an amazing run for Christian films. This is proof again that there is a huge public out there for wholesome, overtly religions films.

“One Night with the King” is a lavish, old-fashioned Biblical epic on the life of Esther. “Facing the Giants” is a regional, Bible-belt movie made here in the deep South about the struggle of a small-town football coach to apply his faith on the gridiron.

Fox Faith has distributed a number of other Christian films into the theaters this year and their catalog includes “End of the Spear” about the Auca Indian martyrs, Janette Oke’s “Love’s Abiding Joy” and “Mother Teresa” starring Olivia Hussey as well as “The Passion of the Christ” which started the latest boom in Christian films.

Watch for these and other films to come to giant, digital screens thanks to Fox Faith, www.FoxFaithMovies.com These kinds of high quality films are one way to reach today’s teens and youth market in the theaters where they hang out. Ironically, digital projection makes it easier than ever for Christian films to make to the screen since the huge cost of prints has been eliminated.

Along with the religion and faith films, family classics, and animated kids features in their catalog, there are a lot of classic religious films. Why shouldn’t these kinds of pictures become standard fare in our theaters and homes?

Pray for Fox Faith and other religions film distributors and support these kinds of pictures when they come to a theater near you – including this year’s Christian Christmas film, “The Nativity.” Let’s patronize these films and send Hollywood a message.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Although Dr. Bill Bray no longer reviews films regularly for these pages, he and Ivy are avid movie buffs. He urges readers to consult Christianity Today for Christian reviews of any film before you plan a night out at the theater.
