The Zimbabwe Declaration THIS African confession of faith is becoming an international legend though
I cannot locate the source. It is said that the native missionary who wrote this
declaration was martyred or died soon after. These vows make me want to say
amen and amen every time I re-read them in prayer. May God’s Holy Spirit grant us all humility
and grace to live in such fervor! -- Bill Bray, Editor I have
joined the fellowship of the unashamed.
I have Holy Spirit power! The die
has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made – I am
a disciple of His. I have taken up my
cross. I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away or be still. My sins are forgiven, my past is redeemed, my
present makes sense, and my future is secure. I am
finished with low living, sight walking, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed
visions, worldly talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals. I no
longer need preeminence, position, promotions, plaudits and popularity. I no longer have to be right, first, tops,
recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded. I now walk
by faith, live in hope, serve in love, depend on His presence, wait in
patience, am uplifted by prayer, and labor with Holy Spirit power. That’s what it means to be His disciple, to forsake
all and follow Him. Pray for your missionary
team that we
too might live in this way... Bill
